The future of Canadian agriculture depends on a productive, viable and profitable sector. CAPI has laid a foundation to address these issues in part through its studies on farm incomes and regulatory reform. CAPI has also explored this issue from the viability of rural economies in general.

Second Forum on Farm Income Project

February 13-14, 2006

In February 2006, the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute (CAPI) held a second forum on the factors affecting current and future farm income prospects in Canada. The objectives of this forum were to:
  • Outline potential policy implications associated with the findings from the first phase of the farm income project;
  • Engage in dialogue with stakeholders on major themes associated with these potential policy implications;
  • Obtain feedback from stakeholders on potential policy implications; and
  • Gather insight on opportunities and strategic directions for the agri-food sector.
Over 160 invited guests representing many dimensions of the agri-food sector across Canada attended this conference.
