Project 1: Diagnosing the trade deficit

We need to understand what is happening across the processed food sector in Canada. This project explores at a more granular (sub-sector) level the $6.5-billion deficit in processed food. This work is now underway and is sponsored by Industry Canada. The project team includes Industry Canada, Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, Statistics Canada and leading researchers in the field. This project will provide important perspectives on sectoral performance and draw high-level attention to their implications, such as to primary processors and producers.
